Webb, William Snyder

(1882–1964) physicist, archaeologist; born in Greendale, Ky. He was long on the faculty of the University of Kentucky (1904–50), where he headed the departments of physics and anthropology and archaeology. He was archaeologist of the Tennessee Valley Authority (1934–37) and during World War II aided the U.S. atomic bomb effort at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
