A gene on chromosome 19p13.2 that encodes a member of the WD-repeat protein family which provides a molecular scaffold for various multimeric protein complexes, including that for the ERK pathway, linking ERK responses to specific agonists. It is also involved in response to hypoxia by downregulating HIF1A/HIF-1-alpha via its interaction with EGLN3/PHD3. WDR83 may promote HIF1A degradation by recruiting signalling complexes to a specific upstream activator and may be involved in pre-mRNA splicing.
