Location:Three separate parcels in southeastern Ohio. Accessible by US 33; OH 7 and 93. Nearby cities/towns include Athens and Marietta.
Facilities:Visitor center, 7 campgrounds, dispersed camping, picnic sites, trails (300 miles), scenic drives.
Activities:Camping, hunting, boating, canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiking, ORV riding, mountain biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing.
Special Features:Vesuvius Furnace, partially restored iron furnace built in 1833; Irish Run Natural Bridge, one of seven natural rock bridges in Ohio; three 100-year-old covered bridges; Shawnee Lookout Tower, constructed by the CCC in 1939; mounds and prehistoric earthworks from the Adena and Hopewell cultures; Leith Run Recreation Area, offering access to Ohio River. Wayne NF is Ohio's only national forest.
