The city, once famous for its brass industry, is a financial and commercial center of W Connecticut. Clocks and watches, tools, instruments, plastics, chemicals, and electronic parts are among the manufactures of Waterbury. The city's historical society has notable collections. Waterbury is the site of a branch of the Univ. of Connecticut and Post Univ. of Waterbury.Waterburya city in the northeastern USA, in the state of Connecticut, on the Naugatuck River. Population, 112,000 (1975). Waterbury has long been a center for the manufacture of articles from nonferrous metals and their alloys. Watches are made in the city.
