Waste-Cleaning Machine
Waste-Cleaning Machine
a machine used in spinning to clean waste material from trash. Waste-cleaning machines are of three types. In machines of the first type, the trash is pushed through a screen or grid, which traps the usable material. Percussion-action machines constitute the second type; they may process material in batches or operate continuously. Grate bars may be classified as a batch-processing waste-cleaning machine; opening machines and scutchers for waste materials are continuous-action types. Machines of the third type clean by coarse combing the waste material, which results in the most thorough cleaning. In the USSR, examples of such machines are called regenerators.
