释义 | Warner, William LloydWarner, William Lloyd,1898–1970, U.S. social anthropologist, b. Redlands, Calif., B.A., Univ. of California, Berkeley, 1925. After studying the Australian aborigines (1927–29), he applied the research methods of cultural anthropology to class structure and status in contemporary American society. His works include A Black Civilization (1937), Social Class in America (1949), and with others, the Yankee City series (1941–59), based on studies of Newburyport, Mass. Warner was a professor of anthropology and sociology at the Univ. of Chicago (1935–59) and then university professor of social research at Michigan State Univ. until his death. |
