Waren

a city in the German Democratic Republic, in the Neubrandenburg District. Located on the north shore of Lake Müritz. Population, 20,200 (1967). Waren has been known since the 13th century. There is fishing, a food-processing industry, and a plant for nonferrous casting and forging. Waren is also a center for vacationers and tourists.
