Vladimir Mikhailovich Zenzinov

Born 1880 in Moscow; died Oct. 20, 1953, in New York. A leader of the Socialist Revolutionary Party. From a merchant family.

Zenzinov graduated from a university in Germany in 1904. A member of the Moscow Socialist Revolutionary Committee from 1905, he joined the fighting organization of the party in 1906 and was elected a member of its Central Committee in 1909. In World War I he was a “defensist.” A member of the Executive Committee of the Petrograd Soviet in 1917, Zenzinov was the editor of the Socialist Revolutionary organ, the newspaper Delo Naroda. He was against the October Revolution and Soviet power, becoming a member of the Ufa Directory in 1918 and later emigrating to France. In 1920 he joined the body of representatives of the Socialist Revolutionary Party abroad. After the split in the party in 1930, Zenzinov was a member of its extreme right-wing group.
