an urban-type settlement in Beshenkovichi Raion, Vitebsk Oblast, Byelorussian SSR; situated on the left bank of the Zapadnaia Dvina River at the influx of the Ulla River, 17 km from the Lovsha railroad station on the Vitebsk-Polotsk line. Ulla itself has several food-processing enterprises, and there is a canning and vegetable-drying combine 3 km outside the city. The L. M. Dovator Memorial Museum, a branch of the Vitebsk Oblast Museum of Local Lore, is located in Ulla.
