Sphacelariales

an order of brown algae. The order contains 14 genera, embracing about 50 species. The algae are found in seas. The bushy thalli are 1–20 cm high; the branches are cylindrical and grow by means of division of the large apical cell. Reproduction is asexual and sexual.
