Location:10 miles west of Salem, Oregon.
Facilities:Interpretive and viewing kiosk, spotting scope, hiking trails, auto tour route, rest rooms.

Special Features:Baskett Slough NWR was created to provide vital wintering habitat for dusky Canada geese. Unlike other Canada geese, duskies have limited summer and winter ranges. They nest on Alaska's Copper River Delta and winter almost exclusively in the Willamette Valley. Refuge also provides habitat for 30 species of mammals, including red fox and black-tailed deer, eight species of amphibians, and ten species of reptiles.
Habitats: 2,492 acres of irrigated hillsides, oak-covered knolls, grass fields, and wetlands.
Access: Some portions of the refuge are closed to the public while geese are present, from October through April.
Wild life: Dusky Canada geese. Also several species of waterfowl, shorebirds, woodpeckers, and a variety of songbirds, Pacific tree frogs, black-tailed deer, raptors.
