Tompo

a river in the Yakut ASSR; a right tributary of the Aldan River, in the Lena River basin. The Tompo is 570 km long and drains an area of 42,700 sq km. The river rises in the Suntar-Khaiata Range. For most of its course, the Tompo is a mountain river. It is fed by snow and rain. The mean flow rate is about 254 cu m per sec. The river freezes in October, and the ice breaks up in late May.
