United Democratic Fatherland Front of Korea UDFF
United Democratic Fatherland Front of Korea (UDFF)
a national front of patriotic parties and organizations in Korea. The founding congress of the UDFF, representing more than 70 political parties and public organizations of North and South Korea, was held in Pyongyang from June 25 to June 28, 1949. The guiding and directing force in the UDFF was the Workers’ Party of Korea. The program of the UDFF reflected the tasks of an anti-imperialist national liberation revolution. Accordingly, the UDFF advocated the withdrawal of American troops from South Korea, peaceful reunification and democratic development of the country, and social and economic transformations. The UDFF frequently introduced substantial proposals for the peaceful unification of Korea.
During the war of liberation (1950–53), the UDFF opposed American aggression and defended the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The UDFF has played a significant role in uniting the Korean people behind the struggle for peaceful reunification of their country. The front also rallied the people’s support for the creation of a united independent democratic Korea and for the successful building of socialism in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
