(rich'ărds rŭn'dĕl), a disorder beginning in early childhood with severe, progressive sensorineural hearing loss, ataxia, muscle wasting nystagmus, absent deep tendon reflexes, mental retardation, failure to develop secondary sexual characteristics, and ketoaciduria; autosomal recessive inheritance.
