Richardson, Sid (Williams)

(1891–1959) oil executive, philanthropist; born in Athens, Texas. He became an independent oil producer in Fort Worth (1919). He speculated in the cattle business and brought in major oil fields in Texas and Louisiana during the 1930s. Known for his down-home style, he collected western art, particularly that of Frederic Remington, and established the Sid Richardson Foundation.
