Strepsiceros
Strepsiceros a genus of artiodactyls of the family Bovidae. It is close to the other genera of twisted-horn ox antelopes. The horns of the males are long and twisted into the shape of a corkscrew; the females have no horns. There are two species. The greater kudu (S. strepsiceros) stands up to 132 cm high at the shoulder and measures up to 245 cm long. It is distributed primarily in Africa south of the Zambezi River. The lesser kudu (S. imberbis) stands about 100 cm high and is distributed in Somali and other parts of East Africa. The females are smaller than the males. The coloration ranges from reddish gray to bluish gray with white stripes on the sides. The kudu lives in small groups, more rarely alone, in wooded hills, feeding on grass and tree leaves.
