Telergone

 

any of a group of chemical substances that are shed into the environment by the exocrine glands of animals and that affect members of the same or of different species in specific ways. Telergones include sexual attractants, repellents, and substances of alarm and defense. The more common name for the group of chemical substances used in communication between animals is pheromone.
