Sinding, Christian

(krĭs`tyän sĭn`dĭng), 1856–1941, Norwegian nationalist composer, best remembered for his lyrical, romantic piano works, including the popular Rustle of Spring. He also wrote the opera Der Heilige Berg (The Holy Mountain, 1914), orchestral works, chamber music, and songs. In 1920–21 he taught at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.
