A term used normally for aircraft simulators. However, simulators are dynamic devices that attempt to reproduce the behavior of another dynamic device to the maximum extent but in static conditions. An aircraft simulator is an enclosed housing that duplicates the controls, feel, displays, and performance of the actual aircraft. There are also maintenance simulators to train maintenance personnel and air combat simulators to train pilots in air combat. The simplest form of simulator is a desktop. This form and those based on personal computers are becoming more common.
