Adycha

(known as Borong in the upper reaches, Adyachchi in the lower reaches), river in Yakut ASSR, a right-bank tributary of the Iana River. The Adycha is 715 km long, and its basin has an area of 89,800 sq km. It rises on the western slopes of the Cherskii mountain ridge and flows in a broad valley. Fed by snow and rain, its average discharge is 485 cu m/sec. The Adycha freezes over in October, becomes solid ice for a period of from one to 4½ months, and opens up again at the end of May. Its chief right-bank tributaries are the Delakag, Charky, and Tuostakh; its left-bank tributaries are the Derbeke, Nel’gese, and Borulakh. The Adycha is noted for its large amounts of water over ice sheets.
