[′siŋ‚krōn] (astronomy) The geometrical locus of the dust grains ejected from the nucleus of a comet at the same time and having any value of beta.

Synchrone

 

the curve along which dust particles are distributed in the tail of a comet as the particles separate from the nucleus. The cloud of particles is extended along the curve as a result of the unequal pressure of sunlight on particles of various sizes.
