An example of special use air space is prohibited area which is depicted on the charts as shown. In this example, flights are prohibited through this airspace from ground level to 25,000' between 0600 and 2000 h Mondays through Saturdays.An airspace of defined dimensions identified by an area on the surface of the earth in which activities must be confined because of their nature and/or limitations must be imposed upon aircraft not a part of those activities. The various types of special-use airspaces are alert areas, where there is a high volume of pilot training activity or any other unusual activity that may be hazardous to aircraft; controlled firing areas, in which activities are conducted under conditions controlled so as to eliminate hazards to nonparticipating aircraft; military operations areas; prohibited and restricted areas; and warning areas. A warning area is an airspace of defined dimensions from 3 NM outward from the coast that contains activities that may be hazardous to nonparticipating aircraft. Except for controlled firing areas, special-use airspace areas are depicted on aeronautical charts.
