Simon sign

(1) An obsolete term for immobility of the umbilicus on inspiration, a clinical finding that was formerly regarded as an early sign of meningitis. 
(2) An obsolete term for a loss of the normal relation between movement of the thoracic and diaphragmatic muscles, a clinical finding formerly thought to be an early sign of meningitis in children.
