Qayen

 

mountains in the Iranian Plateau, in eastern Iran. Length, about 400 km; elevations, to 2, 886 m (Mount Mirza Arbab). The mountains consist of several ranges (Kalat, Muminabad, Baqiran, Baran, and others) with a relative elevation of 800–1,000 m above the adjacent desert plains. The mountains are composed primarily of limestone and volcanic rock. The slopes are covered with sparse dry-steppe and desert vegetation.
