Tullio test (standard) Tul·li·o test (stan·dard) (tū'lē-ō test stan'dărd) A sound-evoked procedure that most often detects an abnormality in the semicircular canal. The patient is observed for abnormal eye movement phenomena during presentation of a loud sound to one ear. During the standard test, the patient is usually seated. However, it is not as useful as the postural Tullio test, which is performed with the patient standing. This latter method allows observation of possible postural destabilization, which enables detection of otolithic organ dysfunction as well. |
