Telanthropus

Telanthropus

a fossilized higher primate whose bones (fragments of two lower jaws, an upper jaw, and radii) were found between 1949 and 1952 in the cave of Swartkrans, Republic of South Africa, where skeletal remains of Paranthropus were also found. Certain structural features of the jaws and teeth allow Telanthropus to be classified with most ancient examples of human beings, such as Pithecanthropus.
