A highly contagious, rapidly fatal infection of macaques by the SHF virus, of the family Togaviridae.
 
Clinical findings
Facial oedema, high fever, anorexia, haemorrhagic diarrhoea, petechiae due to thrombocytopenia, death with two weeks of symptom onset.
