Union Salting

Union Salting

The practice in which a member of a labor union applies and receives a job with a non-union company with the intent of organizing the company's other employees into a labor union. The union member may or may not announce that he/she is a member when applying for the job. Sometimes, the union member will file a complaint with the NLRB after being fired, quitting, or not receiving a job from a non-union company. This forces the company either to defend the charge or to organize its employees.
