transport mean free path[′tranz‚pȯrt ′mēn ′frē ‚path] (nucleonics) A path length equal to three times the diffusion coefficient of neutron flux in a nuclear reactor when Fick's law is applicable. A modification of the mean free path to take into account anisotropy of scattering and the persistence of velocities. See TMFP
