(tô`koi), town, NE Hungary, on the Tisza and Bodrog rivers. The grapes for the noted Tokay wine are grown in the surrounding region, where wine has been produced since the 12th cent.

a town in northeastern Hungary, in the megye (county) of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén. Tokaj is situated on the right bank of the Tisza River at the eastern foot of Mount Tokaj. It is the center of a wine-producing region that is famous for its excellent Tokay wine. The city has important cellars.
