(1) A type of low-cut boot worn by the Evenki people. Unty are made of hide from the legs of deer and are decorated with bits of arctic fox or hare fur, colored felt, and beads. The insides are lined with fur, and the soles are made of shorn deerskin. High unty are tied below the knee.
(2)Pimy or torbaza (fur boots; see PIMY). The unty worn by Russian peasants in Siberia are of medium height and are often made of hide from the legs of deer or horses.
(3) Mass-produced footwear made from leather, dog hide, and other materials and used primarily by pilots and arctic explorers.
(4) In Vologda Oblast, warm felt footwear.
