Schönebeck

a city in the German Democratic Republic, in Magdeburg District, on the Elbe River. Population, 45,000 (1975). Schönebeck is a railroad junction and river port. Industry includes the manufacture of tractors, diesel engines, chemicals, and rubber and concrete products. Bad Salzelmen, a health resort with salt springs, is located near Schönebeck.
