Pyramid State Recreation Area
Location:6 miles south of Pinckneyville off IL 127, then 2 miles west on Pyatts Blacktop in Perry County.
Facilities:Tent and trailer campsites (no electrical hookups), including 3 Class Ccamping areas, Class D walk-in sites, small equestrian camp, and youthgroup camping area; small picnic areas, shelter, pit toilets; multi-usetrails (16.5 miles), boat ramps (at larger lakes).
Activities:Camping, boating (10 HP limit), canoeing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, hunting.
Special Features:Formerly the site of coal strip mines, the park is on reclaimed landthat now consists of heavily forested hills with many lakes and ponds.
