Advisory Conciliation and Arbitration Service

Advisory Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS)

a body established under an Act of Parliament of 1975 to facilitate the resolution of industrial strife. Apart from its important role in resolving major strikes, it is involved in trying to achieve settlements in every case before an employment tribunal. It now offers advice to the general public and training on a ‘prevention-is-better-than-cure’ basis.
