[¦pī·ō‚bas·ə′lō·səs] (veterinary medicine) A bacterial infection of sheep, swine, or rarely cattle caused by Corynebacterium pyogenes; usually marked by abscess formation, but in sheep takes the form of chronic purulent pneumonia.
