Sychevka Cattle

 

a breed of cattle raised for milk and meat. The breed was developed on kolkhozes and sovkhozes in Sychevka Raion and other raions of Smolensk Oblast by crossing local cattle with Simmental cattle. The breed was certified in 1950. Sychevka cattle are pale yellow or mottled pale yellow. Bulls weigh 850–1,000 kg, and cows 500–600 kg. The milk yield per cow is 3,500–4,500 kg, with a maximum yield of 9,000–10,000 kg. The fat content of the milk is 3.8–3.9 percent. The Sychevka breed is raised in Smolensk, Kalinin, Kaluga, Briansk, Riazan’, and other oblasts of the RSFSR.
