Vladimir Kudriavtsev

Kudriavtsev, Vladimir Nikolaevich

 

Born Apr. 10, 1923, in Moscow. Soviet jurist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1974). Member of the CPSU since 1945.

Between 1952 and 1960, Kudriavtsev engaged in research and teaching at the Military Law Academy and the V. I. Lenin Military Political Academy. Between 1960 and 1963 he was deputy chief and chief of the organizational inspection division of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR. In 1963 he joined the All-Union Institute for the Study of the Causes of Crime and the Development of Crime Prevention Measures, and between 1969 and 1973 he served as director of the institute. In 1973, Kudriavtsev became director of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His principal works are in the fields of criminal law and criminology.

Kudriavtsev has been awarded three orders and various medals.
