Vladimirko Volodarevich
Born 1104; died 1152. Prince of Galicia.
Vladimirko Volodarevich conquered Peremyshl’ in 1129 and Galicia in 1141. He attempted to unify the Volyn’ lands under his power but was unsuccessful. He suppressed urban opposition to princely power and began intervening in feudal internecine wars in Russia and in Poland in 1139. In 1149 he became an ally of lurii Dolgorukii in his struggle against the Kievan prince Iziaslav Mstislavich, whom he defeated in 1150. He then came under attack from Iziaslav Mstislavich’s ally, the Hungarian king Geza. In 1152, Vladimirko Volodarevich made peace with Geza, thus ending military action between them.
