In reciprocating engines and turboprop aircraft, a propeller is given a negative-pitch setting, or a reverse pitch. In gas turbine engines, devices are used to reverse the thrust by making the jet annular and diverting it through vanes or other such means. See reverse pitch and thrust reverser. |
