Vladimir Grigorevich Trukhanovskii

Trukhanovskii, Vladimir Grigor’evich

 

Born July 15, 1914. Soviet historian. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1964). Member of the CPSU since 1939.

Trukhanovskii graduated from the M. N. Pokrovskii Pedagogical Institute in 1940 and from the Higher Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1941. From 1941 to 1953 he was engaged in diplomatic work. In 1947, Trukhanovskii became head of the subdepartment of world history and then of the subdepartment of the history of international relations and foreign policy of the USSR at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. From 1957 to 1960 he served as deputy director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, where he had been a senior research worker from 1953 to 1957. In 1960 he became editor in chief of the journal Voprosy istorii (Problems of History).

Trukhanovskii’s principal works deal with 20th-century Britain and with the history of the international relations and foreign policy of the USSR. Trukhanovskii has been awarded three orders.
