St. Quentin

 

a city in northeastern France, in the department of Aisne; situated on the Somme River and the St. Quentin Canal. Population, 66,000 (1968). St. Quentin has machine building, including the manufacture of machine tools, motor-vehicle parts, and motorcycles, and an electrical industry. Textiles, primarily cotton fabrics, are also produced. Synthetic fiber, embroidery, and lace are made in the environs of St. Quentin.
