[′plaz·mə ′sen·trə‚fyüj] (nucleonics) A device for separating isotopes in which a cylinder of ionized matter is contained by a magnetic field and set into rotation by application of an electromagnetic body force, so that centrifugual force causes heavier ions (or isotopes) to move nearer the periphery of the rotating plasma.
