Uiun-Kholdongi
Uiun’-Kholdongi
(also Wutalien Ch’ih), a volcanic region in Northeast China, near the western foothills of the Lesser Khingan Mountains. The region contains 14 volcanoes (including two active volcanoes), which are arranged in groups over an area of approximately 750 sq km. The largest volcanoes include Wutalien Ch’ih, with an elevation of 603 m, and Laoheishan. Composed chiefly of trachybasalts, they form regular cones with craters and are surrounded by lava fields. The last eruption occurred in 1721.
