Spartak Timofeevich Beliaev
Beliaev, Spartak Timofeevich
Born Oct. 27, 1923, in Moscow. Soviet physicist and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968). A member of the CPSU since 1943.
In 1952, Beliaev graduated from Moscow University. From 1952 to 1962 he worked in the I. V. Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy. After 1962 he worked at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and since 1965 he has been rector of Novosibirsk University. His primary work is in the physics of relativistic plasma, the quantum theory of many particles, and the theory of the atomic nucleus. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, and medals.
