Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory
Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory[¦bär‚dēn ¦kü·pər ¦shrē·fər ‚thē·ə·rē] (solid-state physics) A theory of superconductivity that describes quantum-mechanically those states of the system in which conduction electrons cooperate in their motion so as to reduce the total energy appreciably below that of other states by exploiting their effective mutual attraction; these states predominate in a superconducting material. Abbreviated BCS theory. MedicalSeeBCS theory |
