Schamberg, Morton

Schamberg, Morton (Livingston)

(1881–1918) painter; born in Philadelphia. He studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania (1899–1903), art at the Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts (1903–06), traveled in Europe (1906, 1908–09), and was based in Philadelphia. He shared a studio with Charles Sheeler and painted abstract paintings of machinery, as in Machine (1916).
