Todzha

 

(also Azas), a lake in the Tuva ASSR, in the western Todzha depression. The lake covers an area of 51.6 sq km. The Azas River empties into Lake Todzha, and the Toora-Khem (a right tributary of the Bol’shoi Enisei) flows out of the lake. The highest water levels are in June; the lowest, in March and April. The level may fluctuate by as much as 1.4 m. Lake Todzha freezes in early November and opens up in the second half of May. In summer (July) the water’s temperature at the surface rises to a high of 19°C.
