Plakat

(Posters), a specialized publishing house of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Founded in 1974, Plakat is located in Moscow. It annually publishes about 500 political posters, including thematic exhibition series, as well as all types of printed visual materials for agitational purposes. The total number of printed copies of all publications exceeds 300 million annually. Many publications are distributed by subscription. A center of scientific methodology operates under the auspices of Plakat. One of the center’s aims is to conduct sociological research on the effectiveness of visual agitation and propaganda. Plakat regularly organizes nationwide contests for the best political poster.
