Voznesensk

a city (since 1938), the center of Voznesensk Raion, Nikolaev Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. It is a landing on the luzhnyi Bug River and has a railroad station on the Kirovograd-Odessa line. Population, 36,000 (1970). Voznesensk has food industries (a meat-packing combine, a creamery, and a fruit-canning plant), as well as garment and furniture factories. There is an agricultural technicum and a museum of local lore. The city was founded in 1795.
