retinal pigment epithelium hyperplasia retinal pigment epithelium hyperplasia An abnormal proliferation of retinal pigment epithelium. This condition is thought to be due to persistent, abnormal traction on the RPE, causing it to proliferate. This finding has been noted along the vitreous base as well as in areas of inflammation and trauma. There is no particular visual significance to this lesion. |
